Business Outreach Committee

Alameda CTC is a member of the Business Outreach Committee (BOC), a consortium of Bay Area transit and transportation agencies working together to assist Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) and Small Business Enterprises (SBEs) through training, providing technical assistance, and relationship-building with agency staff and the contracting community of the San Francisco Bay Area.   • COMTO 21st Annual Scholarship & Industry Awards Gala - Celebration of Transportation - Friday, December 6, 2024, 6:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. (PT)  COMTO Northern California is hosting the 21st Annual Scholarship & Industry Awards Gala at the Oakland Marriott City Center. This premier event brings together leaders, professionals, and champions in celebration of transportation. This gala is more than an awards ceremony, it is a celebration of the powers of education, mentorship, and community. As outstanding contributions of industry leaders and rising stars are honored, your participation helps foster the next generation of diverse talent through scholarships that open doors for students pursuing careers in transportation.   • 2024 Meet the Primes Panel Discussion & Business Networking Event - Friday, November 8, 2024 (PT) At this event, a panel held in-depth discussion providing the DBE community with insights on breaking barriers to entry on working on prime contracts. There were networking opportunities to meet with primes and many Bay Area agencies.
  • Caltrans Calmentor Quarterly Meeting - Thursday, October 24, 2024, beginning at 1:00 p.m. (PT) Join the Caltrans quarterly meeting to learn about exciting program updates and contracting opportunities from Caltrans and many other local agencies.
  • Alameda CTC LBCE Certification Workshop - Wednesday, September 18, 2024 (PT) Alameda CTC held its Local Business Contract Equity (LBCE) Certification Workshop. At this virtual event, attendees learned about the LBCE Program, the different types of certifications, how to become certified, and had and opportunity to ask questions directly with the Certification Team. It was also an excellent opportunity to network and learn about upcoming contracting opportunities and resources. Alameda CTC's aim is to assist Alameda County businesses with growth and networking opportunities.
  • CMAA Northern California Chapter Meet the Primes  – Thursday, August 15, 2024 (PT) This special in-person networking event was hosted at The Overlook at the Port Workspaces in Oakland, California. Some of the most innovative consulting firms were in attendance, including: Aztec, Cordoba, Ghirardelli, Gannett Fleming, Jacobs, RailPros, Parsons, and WSP. Not only was Alameda CTC in attendance, but there were opportunities to network with BART, California High-Speed Rail, Golden Gate Bridge Highway & Transportation District, and the Valley Transportation Authority.
  • North Region 2024 Resource Roundtable – On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, Caltrans invited local businesses to attend the North Region Virtual Resource Roundtable where they could network with Resource Partner Agencies serving Northern California to gain insight about the FREE resources available for small businesses! This event included Q&A Networking utilizing Breakout Rooms where small businesses met with Resource Agencies as an opportunity to learn who they are, what organizations they represent, and what they can offer small businesses as they seek to grow.
  • Doing Business with BART – On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, a webinar was held to offer the best tips and tricks on how businesses can secure a contract with BART. A representative from BART’s Office of Civil Rights provided an overview of BART’s equity programs for federal and non-federal contracts, certification requirements, and insight into upcoming contracts. This was a great opportunity to learn about the different programs and resources available to businesses who want to work with BART. Attendees were able to ask further questions.
  • Certification Workshops DBE/ACDBE 2- Day Series – On Wednesday, June 12, 2024 and Thursday, June 13, 2024, the Business Outreach Committee hosted a two-day series. Day 1 was a virtual meeting providing an overview of the DBE/ACDBE Program and updates, an overview on identifying NAICS Codes, as well as a review of the online certification portal and application process. Day 2 was an in-person workshop hosted in both Northern and Southern California. Attendees received technical assistance with starting an online application, how to check the status of an existing application, and will receive free DBE and small business support services from resource partners, networking with public transit and transportation agencies. Questions were answered by certifying experts in the field.
  • City of Oakland Small Business Resource Fair – Tuesday, April 30, 2024, was the first ever City of Oakland Small Business Resource Fair organized by the Neighborhood Business Assistance Program. The event featured representatives from over a dozen City departments and divisions that provided information and answered questions about business license registration, planning and building permits, Special event permits and process, Oakland Police Department, free Crime Prevention through Environmental Design Assessments for businesses, Workforce Development, and more!
  • Building Opportunities for Business – Friday, March 29, 2024, 8:30-10:30 a.m. (PT) Alameda County Public Works hosted a construction contracting opportunities business outreach event. The event provided an opportunity to network with other firms and key Agency representatives that presented information on upcoming work, project details, and contracting opportunities for small, local, emerging businesses and disadvantaged/minority/women contractors. A complimentary breakfast was served.
  • How to Do Business with the Government – Wednesday, March 14, 2024, 10-11 a.m. (PT) Norcal APEX Accelerator hosts monthly webinars where you can learn the basics of selling your products or services to government agencies. View upcoming events here.
  • 2024 Resources Fair– Tuesday, February 27, 2024, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (PT) This one-of-a-kind event was designed to connect job seekers with Airport employers and provide businesses with access to information and opportunities.
  • Building Opportunities for Business – Friday, January 26, 2024, 8:30-10:30 a.m. (PDT) Alameda County Public Works held its 2024 Building Opportunities for Business Breakfast series kick-off meeting targeting local businesses interested in working with ACPWA and other Alameda County construction contracting agencies.
  • Caltrans District 4 Calmentor Quarterly Meeting – Thursday, January 25, 2024, 1:00-3:00 p.m. (PT) This quarterly District 4 Calmentor meeting was to share the latest in Bay Area industry transportation news, procurement opportunities, best practices and projects for large and small A&E firms.
  • Sponsor Agency Reporting Workshop – Wednesday, January 10, 2024, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (PT) Alameda CTC Sponsor Agency LBCE Program Semi-Annual Report Form Training Workshop.
  • How to Get Certified with the State of California Small Business Program – Wednesday, January 10, 2024, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (PT) The California High-Speed Rail Authority (HSR) Small Business Program along with the California Department of General Services hosted a “How to Get Certified with the State of CA” virtual workshop.  The workshop covered: An overview of the HSR Small Business Program, Small Business certifications accepted by HSR, Connect HSR Vendor Registry, navigating the HSR Small Business webpages, introduction to SB/DVBE/SB-PW certifications, Certification Eligibility & Benefits, Cal eProcure registration & certification, and how to find contract opportunities.
  • Meet the Buyers Virtual Procurement Forum – Thursday, November 2, 2023, 10:00-11:30 a.m. (PT) A virtual forum to meet public agency procurement staff, introduce your products and services, and to discover agencies' upcoming contracting opportunities.
  • Small Business Diversity and Resources Fair – Wednesday, October 25, 2023, 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (PT) In-Person Resources Fair in Sacramento hosted by the California High-Speed Rail Authority to encourage advancing equity in state contracting.
  • Construction Inclusion Week – Supplier Diversity Mixer – Wednesday, October 18, 2023, 4-7 p.m. (PT) In-person event at The OAKSTOP-Broadway Event Hall, Oakland CA. Join general contractors, trade partners, project owners, industry organizations, and contractors from throughout the Bay Area and Northern California to network, strengthen relations, and share information about your firm, your firms experience, qualifications, and capacity.
  • CMAA Meet the Primes – Wednesday, October 11, 2023, 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (PT) In-person event at The Overlook at the Port Workspaces, Oakland CA was created with the goal of increasing the economic vitality and participation of the region’s small/diverse business community via strategic introductions between key public agency representatives and the consultant firms that serve as primes on critical infrastructure projects for major bay area public agencies.

  • DBE/ACDBE Certification Workshop – Thursday, June 29, 2023, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (PST) In-Person workshops in both Northern and Southern California. The workshop provided hands-on assistance for certification, inform attendees about public agency opportunities and provided resources and opportunity for networking.

  • LBCE Certification Workshop – Wednesday, June 21, 2023, 10:00-11:30 a.m. (PT) Online/virtual workshop in Zoom to learn about Alameda CTC’s Local Business Contract Equity (LBCE) Program, LBCE certification types, how to get certified, and benefits of certification in networking, bidding, and contracting.

  • Associated General Contractors’ (AGC’s) NorCal Small Business Construction Expo (SBCX) – Wednesday, May 24, 2023, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at Craneway Pavilion (1414 Harbour Way S., Richmond, CA 94804). This event brought Small/Underrepresented Business (SUB) contractors together with public and government agencies, prime contractors, and specialty trades from across the state to build relationships, create opportunities, and strengthen our industry.
