Bay Area counties are laser-focused on safety as the county begins to reopen in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, a pandemic that disproportionately impacts seniors and people with disabilities. Currently, many in these vulnerable populations are homebound for health and safety reasons and require multiple forms of assistance. To readily assist in the continuance of their food security and safety, the Alameda County Transportation Commission (Alameda CTC) has modified its implementation guidelines for direct local distribution (DLD) funding specifically for the Seniors and People with Disabilities (paratransit) program regarding meal delivery.
Implementation guideline modifications enable DLD-recipients the option to use their Measure B and BB funds to support transportation services for meal delivery, such as programs that include Alameda County Meals on Wheels, city- or area-specific Meals on Wheels programs and other meal delivery services, through fiscal year 2020-2021.
