Alameda CTC is proud to support a range of transportation services and programs to support access throughout the county.
One great resource is the Access Alameda website, which helps individuals identify and connect with the accessible transportation services available in Alameda County, including public transit, ADA paratransit, city-based paratransit programs, and organizations that provide volunteer drivers and/or training on how to travel using these services.
Alameda CTC hosted a forum on Monday, July 27, 2015 on emerging trends, challenges and opportunities regarding dialysis transportation in Alameda County, in order to convene people close to the issue from Alameda County and beyond and to generate discussion about opportunities. This was the first of many forums on accessible transportation topics that Alameda CTC will be hosting over the next year.

Dialysis Transportation Forum Overview
Transportation to and from dialysis appointments is a growing issue in Alameda County, the Bay Area and across the U.S. The increase in trips to dialysis clinics stems from an increase in health conditions that require this treatment. Trips to dialysis also have unique characteristics: they often are needed very early in the morning, several times per week, and patients are particularly weak following treatment.
Further, patients’ home locations are often mismatched with the clinic to which they are assigned. These types of trips require a level of service that can exceed the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and, as such, are costly to provide.
Richard Weiner of Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates will lead a panel discussion to be followed by audience participation and a Q&A. Panelists will include:
